Jordan had his operation Monday afternoon (1 Feb) and spent a day and a half in ITU. The operation went well with adjustments to “Forest” and amputation of the left leg above the knee. The surgeon was pleased with the outcome. Jordan has not had the same chest problems this time which is good news. Now that Jordan’s pain is under control, he is doing really well and is sitting up today eating and reading and even doing some maths with the school teacher! The plaster will come off tomorrow and physio will start in the next couple of days. Love Dean and Tracey
Dear family and friends
This is a quick note to say a BIG THANK YOU to you all – for your messages, phone calls, texts, visits, prayers, cards and pressies for Jordan.
Your kindness and support has made the last few weeks more bearable – from the time when we were first contemplating Jordan’s surgery, to the day he had the operation, his worrying time in intensive care and throughout his rehab programme.
Jordan had his surgery on 7th September and was discharged from RNOH on 22nd October, in time for his brothers 10th birthday the next day. He had just 4 weeks of rehab, during which time he progressed from standing on his prosthetic leg with lots of help, to finally using crutches. Some days now he is managing to walk with just a stick and went back to school full time last week! He even retook his English GCSE this week as he wasn’t happy with his B grade! Anyway you can tell I am a proud mum!
I hope the tales of “Forest” have added some fun to your days too!
You can keep up to date with Jordan’s progress on his blog here at:
or on facebook
Jordan is seeing his surgeon on 16th December to talk about having his left leg amputated possibly Feb 2010
Thanks so much again, we really appreciate it and sorry if I have not replied personally to every message.
Love from Tracey, Dean, Jordan and Kai
xx

Jordan has quickly progressed from walking frame to crutches this week and is doing better than anyone imagined. Still having physio twice a day and using the exercise ball and sometimes the Wii machine. He still gets phantom pains late at night which mean he can’t get to sleep so we have asked to see the specialist pain nurse today.

Week 3 of rehab is going really well for Jordan. He has his new prosthetic leg now which he is finding much more comfortable and easier to get on. His new leg has a knee joint and he used it to sit down in a normal chair today. Jordan is having physio twice a day and he is trying to fit in his school work too. Thanks to everyone for their support, especially family and friends!

Jordan was admitted back to RNOH this week to begin his rehab programme. He had the first fitting of his prosthetic leg yesterday and managed to tolerate the “socket” and stood on the leg. He even managed a couple of steps. The next few weeks are about getting him stronger, getting the fit of the leg right and getting him standing for longer periods of time. He is trying to get his school work done in between physio sessions and my mum and I have been helping with with an art project – looking around the grounds for things for him to draw and paint (still life). My mum has made some proper “eyes” for “Forrest” and this has made the nurses and physios laugh!
The staff at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital have been fantastic – very helpful and supportive and I would like to thank them all – the doctors, nurses, physios, teachers, play specialists and everyone involved in Jordan’s care.
Pictures of “Forrest” to follow soon!

Hello everyone
Just to let you all know that Jordan is back at home until Monday 28th Sept.
Have to go back to RNOH for the day this coming Friday for the stitches to come out and for a cast to be taken of “Forest” (his stump!).
Once he is readmitted on Monday 28th he will be in hospital for 4 to 6 weeks, allowed home at weekends. Fitting of the prosthetic will take place on Tues 29th Sept and Thursday 1st October.
He is doing well, has physio exercises to do 2/3 times a day, still getting phantom pains but has special drugs to dampen that down.
Here are a couple of photos showing how well Jordan is adjusting!
